The Spacebirds project was organized in 2008 by the Moscow musician and writer Evgeny V. Kharitonov, a participant in various rock and electronic projects since the mid-1980s. (EugeneKha, “Helter Skelter”, “We”, Nameless dancers, Yoko Absorbing, etc.). Spacebirds are inspired by 1980s cinema and synth music (mostly new wave, Synthpop, italo-disco) and science fiction. But this is not only a romantic, full of nostalgia, in many respects this is an ironic interpretation of the syntheatory era of the 80s. Spacebirds’ compositions were created with the help of iron synthesizers (including vintage ones) and a computer, but exotic instruments are often used - for example, children’s musical instruments. The Spacebirds style is best defined as ironic and at the same time sublimely romantic synthwave, which is often supplemented with elements of other styles: Dreamwave, Disco, Spacecynth, Acid, Space Ambient.
