The Botafumeiro of Santiago Cathedral

The Botafumeiro or giant thurible (incense burner) is swung weekly at the Friday evening mass and on special feast days. The Botafumeiro weighs around 56kgs empty and nearly 70kgs fully fuelled. It takes 8 men to operate - a team of Benedictine monks. It forms a spectacular culmination of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage.
