Sam Sills about this medal race moment: “The medal race final was so close the whole round and I was fighting to try and get in a position where I could overtake Pawel until the last moment. And then when we came around the bottom mark, I felt like I had the opportunity, and yeah, I locked into the finish line and started giving everything that I had. I could see I was taking him seconds before the finish line. He wiped out just in front of me, and as his mast came down in front of me, I flinched, and kind of moved my bodyweight inwards, and then the moment my foil breached I couldn’t control it anymore. When I came up, my gear was so far away. By the time I got to my gear, Pawel had already crossed the finish line. I then saw Nico had stopped just on the finish line which was an unbelievable show of sportsmanship. He didn’t have to do that, but it was very very kind of him.
