From Shook Ones - In honor of the repress of Facetious Folly Feat we thought it would be fun to bring a “deep cut“ out of the archives. Ebb and Flow was our attempt to pay tribute to one of our favorite song writers, Billy Bragg, and while we may or may not have hit the mark, the song certainly stands out as something a bit unexpected. We’ve been known to play it from time to time at shows (usually if someone is fixing a gear issue) but it’s been a long time since the last go-around, so it was fun to shine a little light on it for the latest repress of our 2nd LP. Lyrics: The only image I can conjure is of a small bird in unwavering headwinds. I have this thought a lot. So much so that I wonder why this creature keeps on pushing on against this wall. What if she finally relaxed to let the gusts have their way? Would it be so bad to know weightless, carelessness this time? Lets see where we land. Save your strength. You’d fare no better with the flock even though it seems to you that this has always been a trip you have taken on your own. I know focused winds make a worthy foe. Are we supposed to be so at the mercy, metaphorically, of heavy winds and heavy rains? I wish she’d say no.
