Bob McGilpin: Superstar [Full Album + Bonus] (1978)
Robert Bruce McGilpin had his recording debut in 1978 with the AOR-pop single When You Feel Love on Butterfly Records which peaked at a modest #91 on the Billboard Hot 100. It would be his second single, Superstar, that set the dance floors on fire across the US in September that year, where it peaked at #6 on the Disco Charts. I’ll Come A-Runnin’ was the third single. The accompanying album, the first 10,000 copies pressed in platinum grey colour vinyl, had a Soft Side with the more Adult Contemporary pop songs and a Hard Side with the dance tracks. I have included two tracks that mysteriously remained unreleased at the time, particularly Let The Music Take You High is brilliant. McGilpin landed another disco hit in 1979 with Sexy Thing before Butterfly Records went bust. He signed with Casablanca Records for a third album in 1980 but Casablanca was also a label in rapid decline by that time, and the album flopped.
