Markhu – For Nature, Culture & Leisure

Around 40 km, 1 ½-hour drive from Kathmandu is the charming village of Markhu offering a natural and cultural escapade from the hubbub of busy city life. On the north western shore of Indra Sarobar on Kulekhani Dam, Markhu, is popular for a day visit especially among the youngsters of Kathmandu Valley. The settlement of Newar, Tamang, Magar, Bahun, Chhetri, also offers warm cultural experience of local hospitality. While hiking, mountain biking, boating, fishing/ angling sightseeing, are popular activities for visitors. The gorgeous waterfall at Thado Khola and a sheep farm nearby are engaging places to visit. Chitlang, another tourist spot near Kathmandu Valley, is about an 1 ½ from Markhu.
