Zeiss NVA EDF 7x40 Fernglas | East German Army Binoculars | бинокль

Manufacturer: Zeiss, Jena (Germany) Application: Military Era: Cold War (1980s) Magnification: 7x Objective Lens Size: 40mm Rarity Rating: Common Specifics: Successor of the Zeiss DF 7x40 of the army of the former German democratic republic (NVA). The EDF was produced from 1981. After the reunion of Germany some of the EDF binoculars were taken over by the Bundeswehr (German Army). The original versions of the east German army had a radioactive illumination device of the reticle in the right tube which was activated by a lever next to the right ocular. This device was removed by the EDF binoculars that were taken over by the Bundeswehr (like the model shown in this video). The Bundeswehr EDFs also have the Bundeswehr supply number on them and a sticker with the inscription: Nicht lasergeschützt (not laser protected). There is also a civil version of the EDF (in black color) which is produced by Docter Optik.
