Borneo Horns by Lenny Pickett featuring Miles Osland, alto saxophone; Paul Deatherage, drums

SAXnDRUMS! - Miles Osland, alto saxophone; Paul Deatherage, drums Lenny Pickett is an American saxophonist and musical director of the Saturday Night Live band. In the 1970’s he was a member of Tower of Power. He is known particularly for his skill in the altissimo register (executed by using a combination of embouchure control, air stream control, and alternate fingerings), which can be heard weekly during the opening credits of Saturday Night Live. Pickett composed Dance Music For Borneo Horns #1 for a concert at the Dance Theatre Workshop in NYC in January of 1985. In #1, he exploits repetitive sections and cyclical writing techniques. The music to the piece was never written down until Professor Osland transcribed it from the recording in 1988. The Borneo Horns was assembled as the horn section for David Bowie’s Serious Moonlight tour in 1983. It included Lenny Pickett on tenor saxophone, Stan Harrison on alto saxophone and Steve Elson on baritone saxophone. For the Borneo Horns
