Sagamore Mihšihkinaahkwa: Chief Little Turtle.. a Miami Tribe War Chief. -------------------------------------------------- Chief Little Turtle, or, “Sagamore Mihšihkinaahkwa” (in the Miami-Illinois language), was born in 1747 and crossed-over to the Spirit July 14th 1812. He is a Sagamore (Chief) of the Miami People, who became one of the most famous Indigenous American military leaders. Historian Wiley Sword calls him: “perhaps the most capable Indian leader then, in the Old Northwest,”.
