Mainz is a city in Germany near Wiesbaden and thereby Frankfurt. Located on the west bank of the Rhine River it is the capital of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Mainz has a population of about 218,000 (2023) and is known for being the birthplace of Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of the movable-type printing press.
On this tour we start in the old town, walk past the Mainz Cathedral, founded in 975 AD, is a prominent landmark. The city is also famous for its annual Mainz Carnival, one of the largest in Germany where we also visit the carnival fountain.
At last we go uphill near the Drususstein for a view over Mainz. The Drususstein isn’t in the video so I will post a Short at some point. For more walks in Mainz please see mainz
