台湾に必ず勝利の旗を掲げよう - We Will Plant the Banner of Victory on Taiwan (Japanese Version)

A Japanese version of a Chinese communist song written in the years following the end of the Chinese Civil War. The original song is known as “We Will Plant the Banner of Victory on Taiwan“ (一定要把胜利的旗帜插到台湾), but the title was later changed to “We Will Liberate Taiwan“ (我们一定要解放台湾) and the lyrics were modified during the Cultural Revolution, as was the case with many songs. This translation of the original lyrics was brought over to Japan in 1961 following the visit of the Japanese Utagoe Choir (日本のうたごえ合唱団) to China. The song came to be associated in the following years with Japan’s very own song, “Give Okinawa Back“ (沖縄を返せ) with parallels being drawn between the liberation of Taiwan and Okinawa.
