With the breeze up to 30kn some competitors thought discretion was the better part of valour and retired unhurt. The remaining yachts roared off reaching to Rangitoto before heading downwind to Motuihe Green. It was a long beat back and Ariki pipped Rawhiti at the finish - close racing!
