Electric Mud Electric Mud 1971 Germany, Psych Rock,Krautrock

Electric Mud - Electric Mud 1971 Germany, Psych Rock,Krautrock Charming private-press LP with a pronounced “garage“ feel. No idea where Electric Mud were from, but in my mind I picture them jamming in an abandoned barn somewhere, turning on West German villagers to that new krautrock sound. None of their songs are particularly memorable, but they play with such sincerity that it doesn’t even matter. Stylistically, Electric Mud would have been a good opening act for the mighty Necronomicon. This only LP by Electric Mud is a strong package full of psychedelic krautrock. The singer isn’t very good but that’s pretty much the only thing I need to complain about. Musically these four songs are impressive and it would be hard to understand if any krautrock/psych rock fan would dislike this record. Apparently there isn’t any vinyl reissue made yet and since the original pressing is a very rare and valuable collector’s item I guess I need to wait for some company to repress this forgotten classic. The original pressing costs something around 1000€ and while I collect original first pressings that’s a bit too much for my current budget. Anyway this record is a solid and entertaining totality and if you know you love these genres there’s no reason why you shouldn’t give this album a try. Four stars out of five.
