WIMOWEH or THE LION SLEEPS TONIGHT - bardcore style - with HILARIOUS medieval ’lions’

’Wimoweh’ or ’The Lion Sleeps Tonight’ was originally written by Solomon Linda way back in 1939, and was made famous by ’The Tokens’ in 1961. This is my arrangement done in a bardcore/medieval style and performed on real instruments, accompanied by weird depictions of lions taken from various medieval sources (I don’t have the references for all of them - sorry!). Instruments used: voice, lyre, bodhran, tambourine, tenor and descant recorders, bass guitar, viola and bagpipe chanter. All parts performed, recorded and mixed by me, so I’m responsible for any duff notes! Many thanks to user dsp9000 on for the church bell sample. I’m not a medievalist or linguist but I’ve tried to use some older English words in my version of the lyrics. Some of the less-familiar terms include ’weald’ (wood or forest), ’tun’ (village or town) and ’mine liking’ (my darling). I hope you enjoy this video!
