Icosa Luminosa: Laban B-Scale in a Lighted Icosahedron

This was a prototype project in which movement scales could be programmed using Laban direction symbols on an iPad Mini, and the result “played“ on an icosahedron with LED lights at each corner, which lit up one after another in scale sequence. In addition, the 12 semitones within a musical octave were mapped to the points, and when an LED lit, its corresponding note played through a speaker. Technology used: Custom app on an iPad Mini connected via Bluetooth LE to an Arduino hardwired to the LEDs. Portable JBL Flip speaker also connected via Bluetooth to the iPad Mini.
