🌋Massive steam clouds as landslides damage Mt Semuru volcano, Indonesia 🇮🇩 January 13 2022 gunung

Heavy rains on Mount Semeru volcano in Indonesia caused flooding and landslides on January 11th 2022. Heavy rainfall caused floods on the slopes of the volcano. The water mixed with lava, to create lahars, also known as cold lava flows, with trees and large rocks swept away by the force of the flow. Jugosari Village, near the foot of the volcano, was isolated by the flood water, as roads were cut off, meaning no supplies could enter or leave the area. Mud slides caused by the rain hit villages, causing damage to walls and buildings. Landslides also destroyed roads and bridges, with the ground underneath them collapsing. Minor eruptions were reported as the rain caused landslides on the volcano, creating volcanic vents which caused clouds of steam. Authorities have advised that people should not venture onto the volcano during this period.
