Mitia Smirnov - Raindrops

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I uploaded a video! This is a very simple cinematic song- there isn’t a huge amount of skill that goes into it in terms of guitar trickery; but I like to think it is beautifully simple. It is the kind of song that could be in a movie. Basically the story goes like this- On the night of our engagement, the heavens opened. It was mid summer and me and Jodi decided to walk to the only shop open in Barry (South Wales) in the pouring rain which was absolutely miles away. The only way to get there that late at night was down a really long coastal dark road. But it was really strange, as we were walking through the street it seemed that every single house on the way was having a party (like everyone was having a party for us). I’d never seen so many houses lit up and for once I actually got such a good vibe about the town, there was something magical in the air that night. Around the time I was also reading a book by Paulo Coelho called “By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept“. It’s a book about a romance of two people who are discovering their spiritual journey together whilst falling in love. Anyway, in this book the Virgin Mary is described as the Goddess of water. I felt like two worlds were colliding inside my mind because I started associating the book with my own reality, and it somehow resonated. We walked through clouds of sprinkling rain, but it was rain like I’d never experienced before. There were these warm and fuzzy grounds covering the whole way to where we were going, and they weren’t soaking wet, but they were electric with water, and there were so much moisture in the air you could see it and feel it all around you. It was a sort of fog, but almost as if we were walking through rain clouds in the sky, but on the earth. I’d never seen anything like that or felt that way before, so the inspiration for a song got stored somewhere in my subconscious, and here it finally is!
