Sarita Heredia – Rumba Gitana 1960 (Groucho Marx baile!) CC Español
Poropopo, poropo porompompero pero, poropo porompompero, pero, poropo poropopó
From “You Bet Your Life” 1960 (American TV series), presented by Groucho Marx.
Sarita Heredia (Almería, Andalucía) was one of the few female flamenco guitarists in the world during the 1950s and 1960s (others: Anita Sheer and Paquita Pérez). Sarita emigrated to the United States in 1950s.
The flamenco rumba is a style (‘palo’) of flamenco music. The genre originated in the 19th century in Andalusia, southern Spain, where Cuban music first reached the country. The dance that it accompanied was improvised with prominent hip and shoulder movements, more overtly sexual than other styles of flamenco dances.
