Om Pitra Devaaya Namaha Om Pitra Shaanti Bhava This is the mantra to recite when offering water to your ancestors, which you should at least do every new moon night, lunar eclipse (amavasya, poornamaasi), or on the “shraadh“/days for remembrance of ancestors. Face the South direction and offer water with some black sesame seeds (in a copper or earthen pot) to the your pitra/ancestors while saying the above mantra at least 11 times. Make sure you collect the water in a container as the water must not touch your feet (sign of disrespect). When done, you can water plants or trees with the collected water.
