On March 6th 2020 BBC 4 aired the documentary Du Fu: China’s Greatest Poet. The programme was presented by Michael Wood and Du Fu’s poems were read by Sir Ian Mckellen - completely erasing British East Asians from their own culture and an opportunity to be platformed. The choice of Sir Ian Mckellen to read Du Fu’s poems is particularly baffling.
