Niyaz “Beni Beni“ at Mix Box, Paris 2012

This is a Turkish Alevi folk song based on the poetry of Asik Dertli (1772-1845). Alevi philosophy is centralized on the belief that God is not an external force to be worshipped, but rather an undefined force of power which exists within every human being. Therefore by perfecting one’s self, one arrives at truth, love and true knowledge, one arrives to God.
