How to: Prepare for high falls (ukemi) - Aikido Virtual Dojo

This is another video related to Aikido ukemi, this time we share a few exercises that we use in our dojo to prepare students for taking high falls. Some of these exercises can be done alone, others require a partner who will be supporting and controlling the fall. We usually chose kotegaeshi as a first technique to practice high falls because the nage can control uke’s fall with both hands and easily adjust uke’s “flight“ if necessary. Enjoy watching and stay tuned for more rolls. Durward Burrell - 5th Dan Aikikai Marcin Hernik - 3rd Dan Aikikai
