Live outside Deutsche Welle office in Moscow following shutdown order

Ruptly is live from outside the Deutsche Welle office in Moscow on Friday, February 4, as the German media outlet was ordered to be closed by Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Earlier on Thursday Foreign Ministry announced via the statement that in response to the closure of RT DE in Germany, Moscow will stop broadcasting operations of Deutsche Welle in Russia. The ministry also announced the cancellation of accreditation of all staff at DW’s Russian bureau, as well as the halting of all broadcasts by the media outlet on the country’s territory. DW Director General Peter Limbourg said on Thursday that the Russian response was ’completely incomprehensible and a total overreaction.’
