Inspired by my best friend Leandro over at #TheEducatedBarfly I decided to start a vlog about my journey to Spain to study flamenco guitar. I visited Granada in 2009 and I saw these incredible guitar players on a plaza overlooking La Alhambra. It stuck with my and when I got back, I bought some records by Paco de Lucía, Sabicas, Luis de Córdoba, and over the years, my interest in flamenco came and went, until in 2020 when I suddenly found myself with the time to be inspired again. I discovered the YouTube channels of #BenWoods #KaiNarezo #FlamencoExplained #MarceloBerestovoy and most importantly #EscuelaCarmenDeLasCuevas a flamenco school in Granada where you can learn flamenco guitar from the very best. I ordered a flamenco guitar online and it was off to the races! I practiced so much I developed tennis elbow, from bad technique and not listening to my body and taking rests when practicing for long stretches. I was sidelined for a few months.
