Queens Of The Air (1931)

Full title reads: “Northampton. Queens of the Air. Mrs Victor Bruce and many other famous women pilots, take part in first all-women’s flying meeting.“ Northampton, Northamptonshire. The Duchess of Bedford cuts the ribbon releasing the first plane to start the event. The biplane starts its engine and moves off across the airfield. Shots of various women gathered around the Duchess - presumably they are the pilots. The Honourable Lady Bailey stands by her plane cleaning her cockpit windscreen. She climbs into the plane and moves off. Shots of plane - ’The Cutty Sark’ being flown by Winifred Spooner. Shots of planes taking off for Women’s air race. MS of two women trying to start the engine of a plane - they have a few problems but then get it going. More planes take off for the race. Various shots of planes flying overhead. N.B.
