LIVE: Nationalists march in Warsaw on Polish Independence Day

Ruptly is live from Warsaw as nationalists take part in a march commemorating Poland’s Independence Day on Thursday, November 11. Marches to mark the day have been organised since 2008, with thousands attending annually and with a heavy law enforcement presence. In 2020, a motorcade march was held due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this, thousands marched alongside vehicles in a breach of the law. This year’s march takes place amid heightened tensions on the border with Belarus where hundreds of migrants set up a camp after failed attempts to cross into Poland. The EU has also accused Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko of deliberately sending migrants over the border in response to sanctions imposed by the EU.
