Angel’s Egg & The Man Who Shattered Time | Genshin Impact Theory

Genshin Impact draws inspiration from a multitude of sources, both established and obscure. From Fullmetal Alchemist to Nuclear Engineering, the game integrates various ideas to enrich its world and characters. With that being said, I recently found what I believe to be the single most fundamental and crucial source of inspiration behind the narrative that propels Genshin’s world: a 1985 OVA titled “Angel’s Egg“ by the legendary Mamoru Oshii. Trust me when I say that if you’re even remotely a fan of Genshin Impact, you will definitely want to hear the story behind this anime... Because that story is what we are currently playing right now. Dainsleif and Paimon have long been recognized as major characters in Genshin. However, their significance to the story is set to grow even further from this point onward, with the key to understanding them lying in a seemingly inconspicuous Rtawahist student named Layla and a book released in patch 4.5, titled “Perinheri“.
