LIVE: Julian Assange extradition hearing High Court, London

Live of London court exterior as Wikileaks founder Julian Assange’s legal challenge against extradition to U.S. begins. Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, is due to appear at a hearing at the High Court on Tuesday in what could be his final attempt to avoid extradition to face espionage charges in the United States. The court has scheduled two days of arguments over whether he can ask an appeal court to block his transfer. Assange founded WikiLeaks in 2006 and the website claims to have published more than ten million classified files, including official reports on corruption, spying and civilian deaths. In 2019 the US Department of Justice described the leaks as “one of the largest compromises of classified information in the history of the United States”.
