☆ RUSSIAN ARMY : Female soldiers march for first time at Moscow Victory Day Parade

☆ Victory Day (in Russian День Победы, Den ’Pobedy; in Belarusian Дзень Перамогi, Dzen’ Peramohi) is celebrated on May 9, in memory of the victory against Nazi Germany during the Second World War (also known as the Great Patriotic War in the Soviet Union and some post-Soviet states). The surrender was signed in the late evening of May 8, 1945 (already on May 9 in Moscow), following the capitulation previously agreed with the allied forces on the western front. The Soviet government announced the victory on the morning of May 9, after the signing ceremony in Berlin. However, it was not until 1965 that Victory Day was proclaimed a national holiday.
