I loved the novel and it’s very difficult for a live action to live up to fans expectation but this is one of the rare cases where they really did outdid themselves: acting, story, directing, was just perfect. One thing I preferred in the drama was the deep loving relationship between Yanli and Wei really was the reason why he tried not to slip into selfless love was really heartbreaking. Ep 19-32-33 are the epitome of perfection visual were outstanding. Wei Wuxian is one of the best written characters I have ever had the pleasure to read/watch. He was the selfless, just, kindest and smartest of them all and he was constantly punished for it especially because of the greed of those so called “leaders“. They weren’t afraid of him, they just wanted to take his powers while being acclaimed for being the moral and just ones. Ugh, I seriously hated them all. Xiao Zhan has really breached into my fragile acting in ep 32-33 was FLAWLESS.
