Salzburg Austria Oct ‘21

A wonderful two day trip to Salzburg. A gorgeously romantic. The city is divided by the Salzach River, the Altstadt (Old City) on one side and the Neustadt (New City) on the other and is overlooked by the enchanting Hohensalzburg Fortress. While most English speaking countries associate Salzburg with one of my favourite films ‘Sound of Music’ - locally it isn’t at all popular and hardly advertised or mentioned. This is due to inaccuracies of the film - it was a flop in both Austria and Germany. All the main film sites were taken around Salzburg and we had a lot of fun finding the sites … or trying to! It is also of course the birthplace of Mozart - which is well documented and celebrated. Mozarts apartment where he was born (the yellow six level story apartment block) is now a muesum and has his earliest works and piano’s when a child. Overall a most beautiful and romantic city and highly recommended.
