F-16 Female Fighter Pilot On 9/11 Mission: Maj Heather Penney

Pilot tasked with finding Flight 93 before it made its way to DC: WASHINGTON DC (WTAJ) — Shortly before Flight 93 crashed, two fighter pilots scrambled to stop it before it could crash in Washington DC., willing to sacrifice their own lives to save countless others. Heather Penney was one of the two Air Force fighter pilots who were tasked to take down a hijacked airliner on 9/11. “I am just your average ordinary American, I’m a Mom, I was a military service member I’m a member of my community I’m just I’m just an American,” Penney said. At least that’s how Heather “Lucky” Penney sees herself.
