Ella Fitzgerald ft. Joe Pass et al - Fine And Mellow

Fine and Mellow (1979) - Track 1 This is probably my favorite Ella Fitzgerald / Joe Pass set because of the full band sound. Recorded in 1974, and released in 1979, Ella is surrounded by an outstanding supporting cast... she would go on to win the Grammy for “Best Jazz Vocal Performance“. The set kicks off with the Billie Holiday-penned title track ’Fine And Mellow’. Joe tries to do his best bluesman impersonation lol.. look for his blues licks fading in and out starting around 2:05, and picking up around 2:55. Ella Fitzgerald (vocals), Joe Pass (guitar), Eddie “Lockjaw“ Davis (tenor sax), Zoot Sims (tenor sax), Harry “Sweets“ Edison (trumpet), Clark Terry (trumpet, flugelhorn), Tommy Flanagan (piano), Ray Brown (bass), Louie Bellson (drums)
