This Mind-Controlling Parasite Turns Snails Suicidal

Leucochloridium paradoxum, the green-banded broodsac, is a parasitic worm that can turn snails into zombies. It invades the eyestalks of their hosts and pulsates with vivid colours, so that it mimics the appearances of caterpillars or other flashy insects. This mind-controlling parasite can also manipulate the behaviour of its host, making the zombie snails easy prey for birds. By doing this, it can complete its reproductive life cycle.
