Direct source recordings of realtime physical interactions with Chimo’s materials are integral to the soundtrack, treated by the composer and processed to produce melodic flourish, resonant percussion and harmonic texturing. Over the unfolding of this visual vigil pencil shading becomes clouds of granular noise, brushes glissando languidly, heavy charcoal impacts and water drops audibly chime. The resulting effect is one of intense immersion in the artist’s deeply personal creative focus, most fully experienced with headphones or via the 5.1 surround mix. There are many documentaries that introduce us to the personality but fail to show us the artist. Would it be possible to somehow show only the artist and their creative process? Delve into the most intimate space of an artist, just the moment in which they manage to bring their mind to the right state to be able to create. Is it possible to capture the magic of the moment in which art is created? This is what this work intends. Place the viewer in the privileged position to be able to observe how art is created and developed in the most intimate moment of the artist. A journey through the successes and mistakes that come with facing the creative process. Chimo Pérez permitted me to be present at this very intimate and special moment. Without reservations and despite how difficult it is for an artist to pursue their work with the hindrance that shooting a film entails. This film is the result of that experience.
