Was The M3 Lee Tank Badly Designed? Tank Facts

The M3 Lee was one of the first allied tanks to be used during WW2. As our shipping industry was going strong compared to our tank building the idea to use rivets was put forward. This idea was hated by the average tanker as it could cause the tank to turn into its own worse enemy! So the question is was it badly designed?
