African Dancing Aka Native Dancing From Uganda (1955)

Uganda, East Africa. High angle shot of African tribal dancing. A large number of men dance in a circle wearing feathered head-dresses. Closer shot. Narrator calls this display: “an example of the ceremonial dancing that symbolises the still untamed, ferocious elements in tribal life.“ Various views of the dancers including some good C/Us of their faces. The men chant as they dance. C/Us of their feet. This is a dance reserved by the Acholi (sp?) tribe for special occasions. C/U of man playing a pipe instrument and others playing drums. C/U of a mother and child watching the display. The dancers advance. “All dancing is thought to originate in these ritual movements - the savage, yet patterned rhythms of the jungle drum beat“ observes the narrator over shots of the continuing dance.
