Friday Live: Starting a flower painting using the wipe out method

Today I’m going to be looking at this composition above and seeing if I can improve it a little when I block it out using the wip- out method. The wipe-out method is great for playing around with light and dark shapes in a composition before committing to detail. It’s also a brilliant way to get away from thinking in terms of line drawing and start thinking in terms of mass shapes instead. If I get something I’m happy with today just in values, I’ll go on and finish it in colour in another couple of sessions after this one.
