On June 29, 2022, the U.S. Navy officially kicked off the 28th iteration of the twice-yearly Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC), the largest international maritime exercise ever. From June 29 to August 4, 26 nations, 38 surface ships, 4 submarines, 9 national land forces, over 30 unmanned systems, around 170 aircraft, and over 25,000 people will train and conduct operations in and near the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California.
