Roots ’n Rhythm is the musical collaboration of artists fusing their culture and expertise into an uplifting and feel good music and media-presentation. Roots ’n Rhythm perform familiar songs from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, as well as their originals, with audience musical interaction, rhythmic interplay and sing along. These songs are familiar to all generations, and have become the standard musical tapestry for peace, love, consciousness raising, empowerment, hope and change. The first offering of the Roots ’n Rhythm project is a “Duo“ between Jahstix, singer/songwriter extraordinaire from Nigeria, via London, relocated to NYC, and Bashiri Johnson, Brooklyn based producer and legendary percussionist. Audiences enthusiastically join in with Bashiri and Jahstix, as they are drawn to the rhythmic freshness, memorable melodies and unplugged arrangements. A fun and memorable time is had by all.
