Donna Summer ~ Autumn Changes 1976 Disco Purrfection Version

Hey it’s the first day of fall and as promised, here is “Autumn Changes“ from her album “The Four Seasons Of Love“. Donna was experimenting with concept albums, one where all the songs told the story of a love that reflected the seasons, the beginning of love in the spring, the summer heat as it builds and now the fall where it begins to break apart. The mournful sound of the kettle drums and the musical arrangement depict a slight panic as the protagonist realizes that this love is slipping away. Donna could make you feel how she felt, I mean the woman turned MacArthur Park into the classic it always should have been and will always be by pushing her voice into great big diva territory and making you feel sad about the cake out in the rain line melting away, giving a great visual that draws parallels to how one feels about the loss of a relationship.
