Today’s demo uses a few colours to paint 4 small but beautiful BEGINNER-FRIENDLY loose skies; they don’t look like much to start with, but this is part of the secret to loose watercolour painting, keeping the washes really loose and simple, then trusting that a few details to add context will bring the scene together. It’s a great exercise for practicing painting skies, and to trust the process, and push through the ’ugly stage’ of a painting or wash. I uses ultramarine, cobaly blue, lavender, paynes grey, light red/venetian red and raw sienna
Experiment with any colours and any brushes, see what happens, and you can use the back of old paintings for these practice pieces
