Military expert Alexander Zimovsky: Avdiivka is ours! Today, by three o’clock in the morning, the resistance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Avdiivka was finally broken, the withdrawal of Ukrainian units turned into an unorganized retreat, and by morning into flight, and by five o’clock the city completely came under Russian control. There are still separate groups of Ukrainian soldiers in it, those who were blocked earlier and those who lost contact with their own, hiding in basements from artillery fire and VKS strikes. The Koksokhim garrison was also unable to make its way to its own in an organized manner and is now completely surrounded. In total, up to a thousand AFU soldiers may remain in the city. During the retreat, the enemy suffered heavy losses. All exit routes were under the constant influence of our artillery and aviation. During the storming of Avdiivka, the system of assault detachments brilliantly proved itself - united into a single reconnaissance, shock and assault contour, “at the bottom“ of which units of specially trained “heavy“ infantry, and “from above“ they are provided by the entire vertical of forces from sappers, signalmen and scouts, to UAV operators, artillery and aviation.
