同期の桜 (Doki no sakura)

Old Japanese military song or “kamikaze song“ with an authentic film material from the year 1945. During World War II, soldiers of the same corps called themselves “douki no sakura“ (Cherry blossoms of the same class/period), implying (and, perhaps, convincing themselves) that they were happy to fall and die for their country and their loved ones. 同期の桜（同期の櫻、どうきのさくら）とは、日本の軍歌。大東亜戦争時、好んで歌われた歌である。華々しく散る姿を、桜花に喩えた歌である。西條八十作詞、大村能章作曲。
