This is one of the most popular New Year’s songs for children, “A Christmas tree was born in the forest.“ The poems for the future song were published in December 1903 in the “Baby“ magazine under the name “Elka“. The author of the poem is Raisa Adamovna Kudasheva (nee Gidroyts), a Russian Soviet poet and writer. The music for the poem two years later (1905) was written by Leonid Karlovich Beckman, a biologist and amateur musician. In its modern form, the text is significantly reduced, and the lyrics to the song are slightly changed.
