Eowa - The Year Without a Summer (full album, 2023)

I am very pleased to present the debut album from Derbyshire-based one-man band, Eowa. A dour, heavily imposing album of bleakly melodic black metal, with riffs hewn from the cold stone of the British north, mastered by the mighty Neil Schneider of Vintertodt and Blackbraid! But the theme of the album takes in cataclysmic events from far more tropical climes, overlapping the destruction of black metal with natural disasters, as it explores the volcanic winter of 1816 caused by the eruption of Mt. Tambora in Indonesia - the deadliest volcanic eruption in recorded history, resulting in a global ‘Year Without a Summer’, as the ash and aftereffects of the explosion caused famine, crop failure, starvation of death across the globe. The kind of apocalyptic tale of nature overpowering mankind that black metal is made of. The album is released in CD and digital formats by the band today, 17th March, available from the Bandcamp: Band:
