U.S. AND TAIWAN PROVOKE CHINA
Taiwan President Lai visited Matsu, an island off the coast of China.
The island was the site of a crisis in 1958 when Chinese communists shelled the islands in an attempt to dislodge Taiwanese troops.
This year, the US sent a special forces team to Kinmen Island to train Taiwanese commandos.
This is in contrast to the 1979 policy when the US enacted the Taiwan Law on Coordination with Taiwan for Self-Defense.
The US is seeking to rethink its military relationships with Japan, South Korea, the Philippines and Australia to counter China. This has alarmed China and prompted it to expand its nuclear arsenal.
The Taiwanese president’s trip to Matsu is part of a broader strategy by the US and its regional allies to provoke China into a nuclear conflict.
