From the notes about Vincent. Siberian Sunflowers. One day, Vincent and I were wandering around the outskirts of a small village called Attak, located near the banks of the Irtysh River. It was a July midday, and we took shelter in the shade behind a small hut. Vincent was eager to find something special for his canvas. And then we saw a young boy, who was walking and peeling seeds, digging them out of a sunflower! I asked him, ’Hey, kid, where did you get that sunflower?’ He replied that just beyond a small forest, about a 10-minute walk away, there was a huge sunflower field! ’Oh my God,’ exclaimed Vincent! ’I must paint this!’ And so was born his series of amazing works about sunflowers!
