Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you’re enjoying the holidays and are treating yourselves around this time of year. This performance is from their Live Tour2013 Tabula Rasa. Enjoy! Translation by me. Annotations: “His appearance starts to change completely“ - Kyo changed one word from the lyrics in this performance. The original line would be “His appearance starts to transform“. (変形する - 変わり果てる) “And I will become a flower that will bloom once again“ - At first I wanted to translate this as “[...] that will bloom repeatedly“, however the word used usually refers to one reoccurrence, like coming back from something or doing something a second time. “I bloom with the flowers in a riot of colors...“ - This verb is often also translated as “to bloom profusely“. “Just one time - That night in February - You were holding someone in disarray - Unable to forget the “you“ you love“ - “Holding“ is a euphemism for sex. I thought about this part a lot. At first it would seem like these should be statements about herself, like the rest of the song, however “you“ in the last part is explicitly referring to a woman (made clear by the kanji used). I want to stress that this is very much open to interpretation and that it’s my personal impression, but after much thinking and discussing this is how I see it: The man she (the narrator) is singing about slept with someone (a third person) for the reason that he could not forget “her“ (the narrator, who he addressed as “you“). However, as she says in the line before, she is no longer the person she used to be when she loved him. --------------- I do not own Dir En Grey or any of their music or performances.
