SoundProof: A Russian-American Collaboration in New Music - Austin Concert

“SoundProof: A Russian-American Collaboration in New Music“ is a music exchange project co-curated by Anzhela Klevich and Madeline Styskal. This year’s collaborative program, co-written by composers from the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music and the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky, was co-produced by student artists in Austin, USA, and Moscow, RF. First performed at the conservatory’s Myaskovsky Hall on March 4th, 2022, our joint concert had its American premiere April 30th, 2023, in Bates Hall at the University of Texas’ Butler School of Music. Featuring a diverse set of pieces written for various chamber ensembles by 5 American and 5 Russian composers, this program was performed by students of the Butler School of Music, conducted by Weston Lewis, and financially supported by a Rainwater grant.
